Export Health Certificates (EHCs)
An Export Health Certificate (EHC) is an official UK Government document, issued by APHA (Animal & Plant Health Agency), signed by an official veterinarian (OV), that confirms that certain food or animal products meet the import requirements of another country. We are already providing EHCs to many multinational companies who export outside of the European Union. The current guidance from the APHA is that EHCs will be required for all products of animal origin going to EU countries from 1st January 2021.

Products EHCs apply to:
Meat:
red and white; frozen, chilled and processed products; mechanically recovered meat & offal
Dairy: milk from cows, sheep, goats and buffalos and all products that derive from it, including baby food & formula
Fish: fresh and frozen fish products, molluscs and fish oils
Eggs: table eggs and egg products
Hides and skins
Pet food: raw or processed, dry or canned, including fish bait
EHC Online (EHCO) - click here
APHA launched a new web-based system, EHCO, for the application and issuing of EHCs from Great Britain to non-European countries on1st of June and it is now compulsory to use this online process to apply for all EHCs that are available on it.As an animal product exporter, companies will have to register as an exporter, which will require a Government Gateway account. The first person to enrol becomes the company admin, who can then invite other users to sign up too. A&H Veterinary Services are registered as enrolled certifiers and as authorised users of the exporter application system we can advise you how to complete this process if required.
Brexit and Export Health Certificates
From 1st January 2021 Export Health Certificates will be required for exports to EU nations. This will be imposed after the end of the transition period, on 31st December 2020. We have a wealth of experience in certification to non EU countries and so, we will be there to help the many companies who have never had to have formal inspection of their products going to the EU before. A&H Veterinary Services has anticipated all possible scenarios, though – from every trade agreement permutation to the hardest of Brexits to WTO rules. Our people and expertise are in place to support you every step of the way through any new export regime, 24/7 and across Great Britain. We are also working closely with decision makers and opinion formers and will provide our customers with updates and confirmation of the eventual regulatory landscape, so that they are best prepared for any trading arrangement.

By the end of 2020, most EHC applications will be done via the EHCO system. To apply for the certificates, exporters should register via the Government Gateway portal, selecting TO FILL IN as the “certifier” when completing the online application.
Step 4:
The visit, inspection and documentation
.

Step 5:
The certification
.
We will check the Export Health Certificate and accompanying documents thoroughly before signing and stamping. The original will be sent to you or with your driver so you can export your product, while we also file a copy with APHA (Animal & Plant Health Agency) and retain another for our own files. Please be aware that no certificate can be signed once the product has left the United Kingdom.
